- The web and internet can be a great medium for communication, fun, and research. For some, the way that computers operate in general, especially the internet, can seem like a Star Trek episode destined for the outer reaches of the solar system. Launching a website for many is a daunting task full of mysterious technical terms and unfamiliar processes. Making decisions, even the basic decision of 'Do I need a website?', can be difficult. The amount of technical information can be absolutely overwhelming. In the effort to simplify the understanding of this process, webpointmorpheus has written several 'white papers' which are contained in this Technical Section to assist and further your understanding of the Web and Internet process. These documents are based upon a consistent set of questions which are often asked by those who were facing decisions and financial investment, and who had little understanding of such foreign processes.
- The following documents are divided into three broad categories. The first category addresses simple Basic Website Information, typically non-technical questions that will help your understanding and decision making process. The second category outlines some Moderately Technical Website Info that may need to be considered. Finally, the third section deals with aspects that are Highly Technical Computer and Website Info.

- Launching a website involves three basic steps:

- The files and images that compose the website.
- The web server that hosts or makes available the files to the World Wide Web.

- Typically, websites will serve one of three purposes.

- To share information of some kind: advertising, technical info, etc.
- To perform a transaction of some type: ecommerce, file sharing/download, etc.
- The application of items #1 & #2 are not extremely technical, and fit under the Basic Website Information category above. However, for those who are considering E-commerce, there are
security and transaction considerations that can't be overlooked. A website that is database enabled will be a necessity for robust applications such as shopping carts, any type of enhanced data capture such as web surveys, etc. The enhancements to a website that are server-side scripted make available a vast array of advancements not possible with simple static webpages.
